What's the story, Philly Puddy?
Philly Puddy Designs was technically formed in Austin, TX in 2002 as an outlet for owner, Phil Lee, who originally started it to promote his music. Phil soon realized that his dreams of being a rock star were not doing quite as well as requests for his work…Not that his music sucked, but due to the saturation of the music scene and less avenues for musicians to make a living unless they toured all year long.
Phil graduated with honors in Multimedia Design, and worked a slew of jobs that just did not value creative work (ie: minimal compensation commensurate with the “starving artist” stereotype). One day in August of 2012, Phil quit Corporate America in a “glorious fashion” and never once looked back. So in 2012, Philly Puddy Designs was officially established.
Phil decided he no longer wanted to operate like design firms and start ups that did not value small business the way he did. Everywhere he had worked always tried to hook that “big fish” client that would make their bottom line grow into the stratosphere. This often left small companies and individuals struggling to keep up with those “big fish” companies that had everything catered towards them and their deep pocket marketing budgets. Since then, Philly Puddy Designs has maintained a pro small business mentality, and will often work with struggling individuals and small businesses that require guidance and have anything but unlimited budgets. He came up with the concept of “design layaway”, which many people struggling in this economy absolutely love. But Phil would rather work with a person or persons passionate about what they do over the cold, corporate big money world any day. To Phil, seeing his clients stand toe to toe with larger companies is more rewarding than a big pay day. That reward is knowing that he helps people and small businesses thrive in their time of need. Philly Puddy Designs does business ethically and to the best of their ability while making it affordable for those who need to be seen in order to survive.
Since it’s official launch in 2012, Philly Puddy Designs has helped 150+ small businesses and individuals achieve goals they never thought were within their reach.
The Team
Philip C Lee
Phil believes in keeping things lighthearted and fun while at the same time remaining professional and disciplined in his work ethic. Not only is he an accomplished and experienced visual designer, but he is also an award winning director and writer of short film. His specialties include Video Editing, Photoshop, Animation, Web Design and Cinematography. He is also a branding and marketing expert that uses unconventional techniques to keep his clients standing out from their competition.
David M. Collins
While focused on sales and being the “goalie” for Phil so he can get his work done, David is also an accomplished photographer and cinematographer. He graduated with a BA in Digital Technology and Photography from Texas State University, Magna Cum Laude. He is mostly responsible for project management, marketing assistance, business development, photography, and social media maestro. His wife, Mimi (also pictured), is quite the social media expert, and often helps to guide us through difficult campaigns.
